These crispy paneer chunks will make you crave for more. Perfect as a protein in a salad or as a side to a curry. With a dipping sauce you can even serve this as a light appetizer.

Prefer fries? Cut your paneer in stripes instead!

Ingredients

  • 200 gr paneer, cubed
  • 1 eggwhite
  • 50gr panko bread crumbs
  • 100gr plain flour
  • Tasteless vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt and peper
  • 1 Tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 Tsp ground Garlic

Instructions

  1. Put the flour, egg white and panko bread crumbs in separate bowls. Mix salt, pepper and additional spices into the flour
  2. Roll a paneer piece into the flour, aim for a super thin, even layer
  3. Roll the paneer pieces into the egg white, go for a thin, even layer
  4. Roll the paneer strips into the panko bread crumbs, coat the entire surface
  5. Repeat step 2-4 with each cube
  6. Heat 1 cm of oil in a pan on medium heat
  7. Fry the paneer pieces until golden brown

Learn from my mistakes

  • Keep it thin! A thin layer of flour, egg and panko crumbs gives the best crunch
  • Paneer pieces should be moist enough for the flour to stick to them but not too wet to make the flour wet.
  • Keep an eye on your pan/fryer! Panko bread crumbs fry faster than you think. Lowering the oil temperature makes it easier to control brownness
